This month, Callaway Resort & Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga., becomes home to one of nature’s most breathtaking displays: thousands of brilliant Blue Morpho butterflies fluttering freely inside the resort's Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center.

Known for their shimmering, iridescent blue wings, which symbolize transformation and renewal, the Blue Morpho is one of the largest butterflies in the world, native to the Central and South American rainforests. Seeing one in the wild is rare, but seeing thousands all in one place? That happens this month at Callaway.

Throughout Blue Morpho Month, through Sept. 30, guests can step into this tropical paradise and be surrounded by a sea of vibrant blue as these magnificent butterflies take flight. It’s an immersive, almost otherworldly experience.

To close the celebration, the resort hosts its Butterfly Festival on Sept. 27–28, 2025 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.), featuring nature-inspired vendors, hands-on activities, and family-friendly entertainment, all set against the backdrop of this living display.

Why it’s special

  • Exclusively at Callaway Gardens – The Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center is one of the largest tropical butterfly conservatories in North America, making this mass release possible.

  • An Unforgettable Visual Feast – Blue Morphos are as rare as they are radiant, with wings spanning up to 8 inches in a vivid, metallic blue.

  • A Rare Opportunity for Stunning Content – This is an Instagram dream.

The Butterfly Festival is included with General Gardens Admission and free for Annual Members and Resort Guests.
