Ninth annual Frida Fest takes over Bay St. Louis on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
Frida Kahlo, a magical realist Mexican painter whose vibrant artwork defined a nation, inspired women and influenced fashion, has become a role model for artists, political activists and those wanting to dress up and have a good time. And Fridamania has spread to Coastal Mississippi where the annual Frida Fest happens every summer in Bay St. Louis.
The ninth annual Frida Fest takes over Old Town Bay St. Louis from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024. There will be a Frida-look-alike contest, face painting, art demonstrations, music and more! Best of all, it’s free.
Frida Fest started in 2015 by Ann Madden & Sandy Maggio to celebrate the life and art of Frida Kahlo. The town's coffee bistro Mockingbird Cafe has been a major participant and the site of many festival events. Proceeds from the festival’s Frida look-alike contest will go to a deserving charity or organization.
